Aussie start-up’s crowdfunding accelerates as renters demand change in rental market
Rent Rabbit was born from an increasingly frustrating rental market in Australia and one that for many renters, completely lacks transparency. The Brisbane-based company launched by twin brothers James and Ben Pretty (pictured) continues to make waves in the industry after launching verified reviews for rental properties and with some referring to the start-up as ‘a kind of TripAdvisor for rentals’.
“It’s a known fact that more often than not, we can’t trust rental listings, such as when you turn up for a rental viewing and the place looks nothing like the photos, or when you sign a lease only to find out down the track that your home is full of mould,” Ben Pretty explains.
Enter Rent Rabbit, the rental review platform created to tackle a rental industry that has been broken for too long. The platform offers additional services and products for renters, with all products aimed at helping renters throughout their rental lifecycle.
It’s EOI campaign is currently underway on the Birchal platform and has received over 100 expressions of interest in less than 24 hours.
Over 20,000 renters have turned to the platform which has around 160,000 website views and 49,000 properties searched for reviews since launch. The social media reach of the platform is extensive and quickly becoming popular amongst renters having reached 1.4 Million social media views in 30 days.
